Historian and lover of art, Arthur CONTE arrives in Metz with his latest marvel, a work of rare quality, in which he makes known to France one of the greatest contemporary painters, "Yatridès, Master of Time" (Editions Lumière et Espace). The man who wrote "L'Epopée coloniale" (The Colonial Epic) (Plon) is at the same time putting the final touches to "Nostalgies francaises" (Plon), impressionist recollections that we shall discover in November.

"It is not easy to classify Georges YATRIDES' pictorial art of profoundly metaphysic inspiration. His personal searchings indisputably turn towards his inner self. His work is nourished by an absolute individuality. Nevertheless, amidst a civilization of the masses, he still means to preserve the nobility of man and his canvases remain in constant communion with the depths of humanity. Science, religion, culture and civilization, technique and humanism all combine in his works.

The supreme Order of St John at Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller of Malta, which means to maintain a privileged rapport with man, and comprehend his spirit, if one can construe its statutes, through the knowledge of all kinds of truths, has decided to welcome into its midst in the near future, the indisputable leader of graphic art, whose actions in favour of humanitarian works are manifold. It is true that membership of the oldest Western Order of Knighthood constitutes a signal honour, but it binds the new knight to numerous obligations. He will have to practise hospitality, help the needy, further relations between peoples, assist developing countries and bring comfort wherever it is needed, to oppressed nations and individuals".

A vast programme, whose universal ambition does not seem usual for the common run of people. The language of Georges Yatridès' painting which knows no bourne, will, without any doubt, be the artist's auspicious tool in the pursuit of this ideal.

Note :  Deeply honoured, YATRIDES accepted the title "Knight", but circumstances at the time, forced him to decline the Dubbing to belong to the Order St John of Jerusalem.

This analysis of large semiotician ("The Russian Idea between light and spirituality", "Yatridès and the Bible", "anti Picasso", "Interstellar Icons", "Yatridès 1960 Kubrick-1968" etc.) shows us the way .

Indeed, the interest of this YATRIDES decision to leave behind the abstract art said, manifests itself a few years later. He created a universe without reference in the known world, abstract in design and in the signs used, but a universe capable of human beings include appearances. Sometimes he gets himself in his works.

It was the need to create an abstract but able to be recognized by the human mind, which have not yet been able to achieve the other creators universe. Science, by trial and error, discovered a world that will increasingly abstract, with each step that we call future. YATRIDES was realized today. 

Among its elements that have allowed him to develop his work is the discovery of another light. His designs he was able to demonstrate and perform at his personal research at CEA Offices in Special Applications of Physics (CENG) have revealed new properties of light including the outcome of a focused high-temperature set.

Another sign of the value of his work: his work has influenced many great filmmakers "thinkers." Thus the plate-Boulder, argument and motor KUBRICK film "2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY" is this plate-Boulder that comes YATRIDES paintings from 1959 to 1963 in the form and substance . Copying is obvious.

This is regrettable, for myself who knows for years and certainly for those who have tried to approach it is the impenetrable isolation which he structured his immediate entourage, protected by a solid perimeter almost even if one is close to him.
When asked a question, he smiled and you get lost in his eyes. But there is painting, you look, it addresses the eyes innocently and does not go away and suddenly invaded. But invading what? What space and which door to reach it, to create such an internal movement? A painful destruction breathtaking and then some kind of disorder that becomes a readjustment of beliefs and values, reconstruction. But a reconstruction of what? Self? From what plans? The painting has the answers to the questions Merme formula itself, lacking without her questions. As noted by Alexander BOURMESTER "YATRIDES gives answers to questions that nobody has yet made." It is characteristic of very great inventions. "But there is still something else" and YATRIDES alone can answer.
